Things to Avoid after Botox

Botox cosmetic is undoubtedly one of the most popular cosmetic procedures. It is a very successful technique to eliminate the lines and wrinkles in the face due to aging or various external factors. Today, it is preferred not only by middle-aged women but also by men. There are a few things to avoid after botox, which has a low risk of complications as long as it is performed by a specialist doctor. All that remains is to enjoy beautification with botox afterward.

Although most patients think that they can go back to daily routines immediately after getting botox, it is necessary to avoid strenuous physical activities and exercises for the first 24 hours. It is possible to say that the 48 hours after botox is important. During this period you should avoid lying facedown and touching your face. Some patients assume that messaging their faces after getting botox is beneficial. However, it is quite opposite. Indeed, massaging the face within the first two days after botox may cause it to be displaced. What I recommend is to work your muscles by frowning or squinting to accelerate the effect of botox. It is better to lie on your back overnight to avoid possible complications. You can use double pillows while sleeping to minimize edema.

Water should not touch the application area for at least six hours. Afterward, you should be careful while washing your face or taking a shower and not rub your face too hard. You can expect to have mild swelling and redness in your face after botox treatment. You should not expose your face to the sun or hot water until these bruises and edema disappear.

If you are planning a flight soon, be sure that you scheduled your botox treatment 24 hours before at the latest. Again, I want to underline that it will be beneficial to avoid skincare, especially chemical peeling, and make-up in the 24 hours after the application. Alcohol and blood thinners, such as aspirin, shouldn’t be used for two days after the procedure, therefore if you are on certain medications you have to inform your doctor before getting your botox done.

Remember that even though you will obtain amazing results with botox treatment, these results aren’t permanent. The procedure, which gives its full results within a week, loses its effect gradually in 6 months and wrinkles may occur again afterward. This period may be shorter in the areas such as the edge of the lips where excessive mimics are made. Then it is up to you if you want to renew your botox. In other words, if you think that you need botox when you look at the mirror, it is time for getting a botox.
